Gym trainer shot at, critical
A 26-year-old physical trainer at a gymnasium is lying in a critical state at the Maharishi Valmiki Hospital after he was shot by unidentified assailants in outer Delhi’s Kanjhawala area on Friday evening.
The victim, identified as Sunil Sehrawat, was present at his gymnasium in Kanjhawala area when three unidentified assailants barged in and got involved in an argument with him, the police said.
The assailants, who were reportedly known to the victim and were armed with automatic weapons and iron rods, took out a pistol and shot Sunil from point blank range and escaped, the police said.
“The locals present nearby rushed to the gymnasium on hearing the gunshot and commotion and found the victim lying in a pool of blood. In the meantime, someone among the crowd made a call to the police control room at around 10 pm. The grievously injured victim was rushed to the nearby Maharishi Valmiki Hospital where he is still admitted in a critical state,” a senior police official said.
“We are waiting for the recovery of the victim to record his statement and further probe. So far, it seems to be a case of personal enmity as all the belongings of the victim were found intact. We are recording the statement of his parents and friends. No arrests have been made so far. The case is being investigated,” the official said.
