Govt eases norms for availing dilli Annashree Yojana
Ahead of the Assembly elections, the city Congress government expanded the Adhaar-enabled direct cash transfer scheme Dilli Annashree Yojana on Wednesday. The government amended the criteria of eligibility and reduced the residence certificate criteria to three years against five years. Now the Below Poverty Line (BPL) people living in Delhi for last three years can avail the scheme. The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting presided over by chief minister Sheila Dikshit.
Under the Dilli Annashree Yojana, the city government provides `600 cash as food subsidy to the eligible people.
“The Cabinet has decided to broad base the scheme by liberalising eligibility criteria. As per latest criteria, all households whose head is resident of Delhi for at least three years with cut-off date as January 1, 2010, annual family income not more than `1 lakh and is not getting ration under public distribution system would become eligible to be included under the ambit of the scheme. The new beneficiaries would become eligible for benefit with effect from April 1, 2013,” Ms Dikshit told reporters. The government said that presently more than one lakh families are getting the benefits of the scheme. The MLAs have been provided 400-500 forms each to identify eligible people for Dilli Annashree Yojana from their respective areas.
