Girl killed, body found in bag
The body of a young unidentified girl was recovered from a bag dumped in an apartment in west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar area on Friday evening.
The police said the body of the girl, believed to be in her twenties, lying in a decomposed state, was discovered when the neighbours noticed foul smell emanating from
the room in WZ-45 apartment in Uttam Nagar’s Mahesh Vihar Phase III. A call was made to the police control room by the owner of the flat, Gurudev Singh, which led to the discovery of the body.
“The girl was apparently murdered two-three days back and stuffed into the bag. The apartment was rented out to a Nigerian, identified as Innocent Nwayo, 15 days back and he is absconding. We are suspecting his involvement in the murder. A manhunt has been launched to nab him and the Nigerian embassy has been alerted about it,” additional commissioner of police (west) V. Renganathan said.
“No documents or belongings were recovered from the victim’s person and would have helped in her identification. The body bore external injury marks. It is not clear whether she was raped since her medical examination has not been conducted so far. The landlord has told that three-four Nigerians used to frequent the apartment. All of them are absconding,” a police source said.
The body has been sent to DDU Hospital for preservation and a hue-and-cry notice has been issued to all the districts in the capital. A case of murder has been registered at the Uttam Nagar police station.
