Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit, while asserting that her government is ready to extend all possible help to any probe agency, pegged Commonwealth Games expenditure to `3,753 crores by stating that 25 projects were directly linked to the just concluded sporting events. She further stated that there were about 50 projects
which were related to improvement in the city infrastructure on which the city government spent `11,077 crores and thus total direct and indirect expenditure on Games was `14,830 crores by the Delhi government.
Replying to a short duration discussion on the issue of the Games in the Assembly on Tuesday, the chief minister asserted that her government would extend all possible help to any probe agency, including CBI, CVC, CAG and Shanglu Committee formed to look into the issue. “Our records are open for everyone. We have nothing to hide,” asserted Ms Dikshit.
Though the discussion on the Games was listed in the names of Leader of the Opposition V.K. Malhotra but it was taken up in the absence of the BJP MLAs as he was expelled for the day through a resolution moved by the ruling party.
Adopting a combative posture, the chief minister accused the BJP of trying to mislead the House and of indulging in pointing fingers at “anybody and everybody” without having any basis.
