Feel lucky to be alive: Litigant
A litigant, Mahendra Tyagi, escaped death by a whisker as he was standing in the queue for getting a pass when a powerful blast took place at the Delhi high court on Wednesday.
Mahendra’s friend Dara Singh, who was standing just ahead of him in the queue, received splinter injuries in his hands.
“I am lucky to be alive. I saw the worst sight of my life. The bomb exploded at the start of the queue with just 18 people standing ahead of me. My friend Dara received injuries in his hand,” said Mahendra, who hails from Haryana.
The eyewitness said that a PCR van immediately rushed to the spot and the policemen put the injured in the van and rushed them to hospital.
“The policemen rushed to help the injured. I could not hear anything for quite some time after the deafening blast. I found my friend lying on the ground. Luckily, the splinters hit his right hand only,” said Mahendra, adding that around 70-80 people were standing in four queues at the time of the blast and a total of 250 people were at the spot.
After the blast, the crowd started running for safety and in commotion some of them stepped on the injured, said Mahendra.
