Family held hostage by 4 robbers
A family was held hostage by four unidentified robbers at their residence in east Delhi, who robbed them of cash and jewellery worth lakhs on Monday night.
The police said the incident took place in New Ashok Nagar at the residence of Ravinder, 35, who works as a jeweller in the area. Police sources said four
masked men gained entry into the house through the staircase since it was not locked, taking the famnily bu surprise.
“Before the victims could react, the robbers held them hostage on gunpoint and conducted search at the house. They collected `50,000 cash and some jewellery worth lakhs of rupees kept in an almirah. When the jeweller tried to resist, he was stabbed on his leg,” a senior police official said. The police said Ravinder runs an artificial jewellery shop at the ground floor of his house and stays with his wife, Geeta, son Rahul and two other children at the first floor.
The police has registered cases against unidentified assailants and an investigation has been launched. So far no arrests has been made.
