Expedite homes for mentally ill: Court

Expressing its displeasure over the delay in construction of half-way homes for mentally challenged women in the city, a Delhi HC division bench comprising Justices A.K. Sikri and Ajit Bharihoke directed the city government to complete the formalities for approving the action plan expeditiously.

The court passed the order after hearing a PIL filed by a DU law student, through his lawyer Surat Singh, following the bizarre episode in which a former model Gitanjali Nagpal was rescued from the street in Hauz Khas village in 2007.
