Evict ‘sadhvi’ from park, says court
A self-proclaimed sadhvi is in the dock for allegedly using a park for more than four years for commercial purpose, as a Delhi court has directed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and the concerned SHO to get the public park in Ramesh Nagar, west Delhi, vacated.
Additional senior civil judge Sanjay Sharma directed the MCD and SHO to file a status report on April 25 with the photographs of the park, which Sudesh Manchanda, 45, used for commercial purposes.
The case was brought to the public fore by a local daily, India Darpan, which highlighted how the self-proclaimed sadhvi allegedly used the park for commercial ends.
Amit Kumar, lawyer of India Darpan’s editor Lalit Suman, told this newspaper: “Manchanda, after reading the news item, had filed a false case against my client. She alleged that it was not she, but Mr Suman, who in connivance with certain MCD officials and the SHO, illegally used the park for his commercial ends, which is a blatant lie”.
The court, after going through an affidavit filed by the MCD stating that the self-proclaimed sadhvi used the park for her commercial gain, had asked the concerned officials to get the park vacated.
The MCD further said in its affidavit that Manchanda allegedly used the park for tehbazari and other commercial uses. She barred the entry of local residents into the park.
