Embroidery unit worker murdered
A 26-year-old factory worker from Bihar was stabbed to death when he allegedly resisted a robbery bid in southwest Delhi’s Sagarpur area on Wednesday evening.
The incident took place at around 9.30 pm near a park in D-block when the deceased, Virender, who worked with an embroidery factory, was returning home. Four
unidentified assailants intercepted him and allegedly asked him to hand over his belongings and he was stabbed when he resisted. The police, however, denied that robbery was the motive behind the incident.
“The police was alerted by locals who saw the assailants fleeing and a PCR van rushed the victim to Shakuntala Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The witnesses told us that they heard screams from a street and rushed towards the area. The assailants saw them coming and escaped, leaving the victim behind in a pool of blood,” DCP (southwest) Sharad Aggarwal said.
“We are suspecting that he had a fight with the assailants who are believed to be known to him. We have detained some people in connection with the case. However, no arrests have been made so far,” a senior police official said. The deceased was a resident of a slum cluster in D-block, Nasirpur, where he was living with migrant labourers from UP, Bihar and West Bengal. His wife and mother live in Bihar.
