Duta meet over posts

The Delhi University Teachers’ Association (Duta) will hold an emergency meeting on Thursday to address the concern of adhoc teachers who are in fear of losing their livelihood after the introduction of screening candidates before the interview for teaching post in the University.
According to the Duta president, points system introduced to screen candidates before the interview for teaching post will “adversely affect the appointments process.”
Ms Narain said the “illogical cap on the number of candidates to be called for interviews per post will exclude most deserving aspirants.” The DUTA wants to ensure an impartial, transparent and entirely legal process of appointments to begin at the earliest.

Special cell busts drug peddling network, 3 held
AGE CORRESPONDENT
NEW DELHI, Oct. 2

The special cell of the Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested three people, including a former Air Force personnel, for allegedly supplying narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. They were supplying drugs in Burma and other countries and were operating from New Delhi.
The police has recovered around 200 kg of pseudoephedrine drugs worth `10 crore in the international market from their possession.
The police official said the refined drug is used in the further manufacture of high quality party drugs, such as methamphetamine.
The police official said that in December 2012, they had busted a similar gang. During interrogation of the accused persons, it was revealed that one Mohammad Asgar alias Akser was the main conduit who used to procure these drugs from clandestine pharmaceutical units which were manufacturing these drugs in Muzzaffarnagar, Dehra Dun and Baddi.
Asghar used to place orders and procured drugs from these manufacturing units in the name of fictitious pharmaceutical companies. The police had conducted raids to arrest Asghar but he managed to give the cops a slip many times.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
