Don’t shift officials on CWG tasks, says panel
The Shunglu Committee which is investigating the charges of corruption and procedural lapses in the Commonwealth Games-related projects on Monday dispatched a letter to the Delhi government, requesting “not to transfer officials involved in the CWG-related projects while the investigations are going on”.
“Since the transfers of officials in government bodies involved in the Games work may hamper the probe, the committee wants to ensure that no one is transferred while officials are being summoned for probe,” said sources.
Meanwhile, senior city government officials were not available for comment.
Sources also pointed out that various officials are likely to be questioned this week by the Shunglu Committee in connection with the financial irregularities.
“The questioning is likely to start this week and will be completed by the weekend,” said sources.
Meanwhile, the Shunglu Committee officials have also expressed concern over lack of executive rank staff to help in compiling the data gathered from several civic and construction agencies across the country.
Sources added that the two-member committee, which was expected to submit its report on January 25 has been granted extension by the PMO.
