Disabled woman raped by youth
A 35-year-old physically-challenged woman was allegedly raped by a 29-year-old youth in central Delhi’s Chandni Mahal area on Monday evening.
The police said the incident took place late on Monday evening when the victim
with disability in legs are disabled was alone at her house in Shankar Gali area of Chandni Mahal.
The accused, identified as Rajesh, sneaked into the house and started making immoral gestures towards the victim.
“When she resisted, the accused shut the windows and door of the house and raped her. The victim’s shouts for help caught the attention of the neighbours and they rushed to the house. Finding the door bolted from inside, the neighbours started banging the door. The accused sensed trouble and escaped from the house following which a call was made to the police control room and a team of policemen arrived at the spot,” a senior police official said.
The victim was taken to the police station where her statement was recorded and she was sent to the LNJP Hospital; for a medical examination where a sexual assault was confirmed and the accused was arrested.
