Diplomat’s phone, wallet stolen at party
A pre-Christmas party thrown by the ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela at his Amrita Shergill Marg residence turned sour for the minister counsellor of Venezuela whose mobile phone and a wallet containing some important documents were stolen at the gathering.
Police sources said the matter came to light on Tuesday when the minister counsellor of Venezuela, Capaya Rodriguez Gonzalez, lodged a complaint at the Tughlaq Road police station stating that her diplomatic identity card and other important items and her BlackBerry phone were stolen from 1, Amrita Shergill Marg on December 22.
Ms Gonzalez told the police that she had gone to attend a party at the ambassador’s house where the incident took place at around 9 pm. “I had kept my mobile and wallet on a chest in the house. After some time, when I started looking for my things, they were missing. When I asked the people who had come to attend the party, they feigned ignorance after which I was constrained to approach the police and seek your help in the matter,” she stated in her complaint.
Although the police refused to divulge the details of the nature of the documents that were lost, a senior police official said a case has been registered at the Tughlaq Road police station. “We have asked for the list of guests who attended the party. The security staff and the domestic helps at the residence of the ambassador are being questioned. No arrests have been made so far,” the official said.
