Criminal evading arrest nabbed
The police has arrested an alleged notorious criminal who carried a reward of `20,000 and was evading arrest in several criminal cases.
According to the police, Rakesh, alias Raka, allegedly fired at a police party. He was overpowered by the police during a checking at Kanjhawala-Ghewra Road on Thursday evening. He was travelling on a stolen motorcycle when he was arrested.
Rakesh is allegedly involved in killing of two members of an opposite gang besides being involved in 12 other cases of carjacking, robbery, dacoity and attempt to murder.
He further confessed to have committed a number of car-jacking and robbery cases in Delhi, Haryana and Mahara-shtra with his associates.
A 7.65 mm pistol, four live cartridges and 2 shells was recovered from his possession besides the original papers of the stolen motorcycle.
Meanwhile, the police has claimed to have solved murder of a youth during a clash in east Delhi five days ago.
According to the police, Fazal-ur-Rehman and his friends Salman, Masroor and Chand were apprehended on Thursday following investigations into the murder of one Naushad, who was shot at on October 23 in Shaheen Bagh and succumbed to injuries on Diwali day.
"There were no eyewitnesses. The victim Naushad being critical could not help in investigation. He died on Wednesday. We found a motorcycle abandoned at the spot. We traced its owner and found it was registered in the name of Aziz-ur-Rehman. He revealed that his son Fazal-ur-Rehman was using the motorcycle. Rehman was absconding since the day of incident," ACP (southeast) Ajay Choudhry said.
