Court rejects NBW plea for IM suspect
Much to the disappointment of the Delhi police, a court here has dismissed its plea to issue non-bailable warrant against a suspected active member of Indian Mujahideen alleged to have helped some modules involved in 2008 serial blasts to flee India after Batla House encounter.
Additional Sessions Judge Narinder Kumar said it cannot issue NBW against Faizan Ahmed Sultan as he was never named as an accused or a suspect in the chargesheets filed in connection with the September 13, 2008 blasts. Faizan who is holed up in Dubai.
Meanwhile, the Delhi police on Friday said it was not shying away from any inquiry into the Batla encounter case as it felt it had acted for the betterment of the country.
“The government can get any number of inquiries it wants to be done in this case, we have no objections. There have had inquiries by NHRC, trial court, high court and the Supreme Court already,” Delhi police commissioner Neeraj Kumar told reporters here.
