Court frames charges in child rape case
Paving way for the trial of two youth in the 5-year old girl’s rape in Gandhinagar, a city court on Thursday charged them for unnatural sex and rape. The court on its own charged Manoj Shah and Pradeep Kumar for raping and committing unnatural sex as these two sections were not invoked by the police in its chargesheet.
Besides, ASJ Sanjay Garg said “prima facie” charges of kidnapping, attempt to murder, destruction of evidence and wrongful confinement with common intention under IPC are also made out against accused Shah and Kumar.
The court further said that charges of aggravated sexual assault under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act was also made out against the accused.
