Couple, daughter found murdered

Adding to the spate of murders in the city, a 55-year-old businessman, his wife and his youngest daughter were found dead in mysterious circumstances at their residence in Rohini, outer Delhi, on Friday morning. The police said that the entry could have been friendly, as the house was not ransacked although a laptop and a mobile are missing from the house.

The victims, Y.P.S. Chauhan, who owned a godown of chemicals in Shahbad Daulatpur, his 50-year-old wife Rekha and 22-year-old daughter Karishma, lived in a two-storey house in B-Block of Rohini Sector 17. The family hailed from Uttar Pradesh’s Etah district.
The incident came to light when Sunaina, the daughter of a local priest, went to Chauhan’s house to look for Rekha at around 7 am. According to neighbours, Rekha along with the priest Udaychand Jha and nine other women of the neighbourhood was about to catch a bus for Vaishno Devi on Friday morning. The bus arrived on time, but Rekha was nowhere to be seen. They waited for Rekha for some time after which Udaychand sent his daughter Sunaina to Rekha’s house to fetch her.
Sunaina went to Rekha’s house and found the gate unlocked. When she went inside she saw Chauhan lying in a pool of blood and immediately raised an alarm.
Hearing the commotion, neighbours gathered outside the house. Chauhan was found with head injuries on the ground floor of the building, while Rekha and Karishma were found strangled on the first floor. The neighbours then informed the police and Chauhan’s elder daughters.
The bodies were taken to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital for post-mortem after a crime and forensic team examined the house.
Sources say Chauhan’s elder daughters are being questioned to unearth any property dispute.
“We have filed an FIR following the incident. The bodies have been sent to the mortuary. We are waiting for the post mortem reports,” said a senior police official.
“We are questioning certain people to probe the reason for the murder,” added the official.
A case of murder has been lodged at the K.N. Katju Marg police station.
While Karishma was the youngest of Chauhan’s daughter, the eldest Hema is divorced and lives by herself in the city. Jolly, the second daughter, is married and lives in Faridabad with her family. It has also come to light, that the couple had a son older than Karishma who was also married and died one-and-a-half years ago in a road accident.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.
