Councillors seekincrease in floor area ratio
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Friday said that the Centre should consider increasing the Floor Area Ratio and vertical expansion of the city to cater to the rising population.
The suggestion will be forwarded to urban development ministry as it is all set to review Master Plan of Delhi (MPD 2021) next year. During a meeting of MCD, some councillors also suggested parking on the ground floor and mandatory water harvesting to deal with space and water crunch.
Most of the councillors were of the view that maximum height for buildings, presently at 15 metres, should be increased. BJP councillor V.P. Gupta demanded that maximum height of building should be 26 metres and sub-division of buildings in approved colonies should be allowed.
Leader of the Opposition in MCD, Jai Kishan Sharma, suggested that “lal dora” areas in the city should be free from adhering to the building bylaws and the maximum height limit of 15 metres for the buildings should be abolished.
