Cops grill NRI youth’s friends
A day after a 21-year-old NRI youth was murdered under mysterious circumstances at Kalkaji in southeast Delhi, the police is still groping in the dark about the motive and the accused.
Deputy commissioner of police (southeast) P. Karunakaran said the motive behind the murder was not yet clear and the police is yet to make any arrest in the case.
“We are investigating the matter,” he said.
A police source close to the investigation said that the drug Lysergic acid diethylamide, commonly known as LSD, was being used in the party. However, no police official was available to comment on the matter. The source added that a police team was sent to Noida to nab the person who sold the drug.
Meanwhile, a source posted with AIIMS said that the post-mortem report of the deceased Anmol Sarna has confirmed that he died due to multiple ante-mortem head injuries.
The doctors have preserved samples, including blood and viscera, to corroborate further evidence.
Sarna, a US citizen who completed his Class 12 from New York, had come to India in January and was residing at his grandparent’s house in Greater Kailash. The police suspects that some friend of the deceased must have hit him with a hard object at the party.
According to a senior police official, Sarna was invited by his childhood friend Chikki at his apartment for a farewell party as he was leaving to Canada for higher studies. Sources said, Chikki introduced Sama to three of his other friends at the apartment. After few minutes the deceased was reportedly attacked by his friends. He ran out of the apartment where the party was held. A passerby saw him in a pool of blood and called the police.
A police source said that Madhav Bhandari, Rhytham, Parnel and Shivang Gambhir, alias Chikki, had an argument with the deceased. “We don’t know who hit him,” said the source
The police has detained the friends of the deceased and was interrogating them to know what exactly happened, the official said.
