Cops arrest two for killing man

Using filthy language while dancing under the influence of liquor at the wedding of his brother-in-law proved costly for a 35-year-old man who sustained injuries in a scuffle that broke out on the issue and later succumbed to them. Two persons, including the father of the bride, have been arrested in this connection. The identity of the deceased could be established only with the help of the tailor’s tag on his trousers.
The incident had come to light on February 28 evening, when the police got a call about a man lying unconscious on the pavement near Milan Cinema in Moti Nagar, west Delhi. The man was declared brought dead when taken to hospital. With his identity not clear, the police began searching Verma Tailors, whose tag was found on the trousers of the deceased.
After checking out on a number of outlets named “Verma Tailors”, the police finally zeroed-in on a shop by that name in Najafgarh. The shop-owner identified the photograph of the deceased as Mohan Lal, a resident of New Gopalpur Extension, Najafgarh.
Investigations revealed that Mohanlal had gone to attend the marriage of his brother-in-law with a friend Jai Bhagwan. On the way, Mohan Lal consumed alcohol. However, even as the marriage procession reached the venue, he continued dancing and misbehaving.
Mohanlal picked up arguments with the DJ there and used filthy language, while forcing him to repeat one song again and again and did not pay heed to warnings by people from both sides.
Finally, bride’s father Uma Shankar, his elder son-in-law Deepu Prasad and one Mangru, decided to push him out of the venue. They beat him up and Mangru allegedly hit him with a stick on head. Even as he was injured, he walked out of the venue. Thereafter, nobody bothered to check his whereabouts. The police has booked the two accused for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Efforts are on to trace the third accused.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
