Cops arrest criminal with over 70 cases
One of Delhi’s wanted criminals, Raju alias Hakla, who is accused in more than 70 cases of murders, snatching and robberies was nabbed by the Delhi police in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.
Deputy commissioner of police (outer), Chhaya Sharma said that a team of cops, which was trailing Hakla in neighbouring UP, nabbed him near Pilakhuwa where he was suspected to be living in hiding with his wife. He was brought to the city and produced in a court.
The police said Hakla is accused in murder of a 55-year-old man of Aman Vihar, whose daughter was in relationship with Raju’s associate Rakesh. The deceased, Roomal Lal, was insisting that Rakesh marry his daughter as he had impregnated her. DCP Sharma said Hakla, a resident of Sultanpuri, is involved in at least 73 cases of murder, robberies, snatching, and other crimes.
“He was leading a number of petty gangs in the capital and used to extort money from them by regularly demanding a major amount of their earnings,” a senior police official said.
He used to arrange legal assistance for the arrested criminals and is known for resolving disputes between various gangs in the capital. He is also involved in the murder of a brother of one of his associate’s brother. Five teams of Delhi police and teams of Uttar Pradesh police, who were trailing Hakla, got a tip-off that Raju is living in Pilakhuwa, UP, with his wife Parveen but when a police team went there they could not trace him. But he later returned to the village and was nabbed. He was carrying a fake media ID card to avoid getting caught during random searches.
