Cops arrest 5 trying to sell infant

A midwife was arrested by the New Delhi district police for selling a new-born to needy couples for financial gain in the city. The woman, who was held along with four other people, is suspected of being involved in dozens of similar cases in the national capital.
Police sources said the accused identified as Aarti, a resident of Nihal Vihar, who works as a midwife in Pitampura, was arrested on Friday evening from Birla Mandir in Mandir Marg area with her associates, Durgesh Chauhan and his wife Reshma, both residents of district Seoni, MP, Arun Aggarwal, a resident of Pitampura, and one R. Jain.
The arrests took place following a tip-off by an informer to an official at the Mandir Marg police station that a woman from Pitampura area was willing to sell an infant for `1 lakh. A police staffer acted as a decoy customer and made a call to Aarti and expressed desire to buy the child.
“Our decoy told her that the two-month-old baby should be delivered to her in Birla Mandir for religious significance and Aarti readily agreed. At about 4 pm last Friday, Aarti, who was escorted by four others, including the parents of the infant, was spotted by our decoy customer who approached her and identified her following which she signalled other police officers present at the spot and the accused were immediately taken into custody,” a senior police official said.
“We have taken her into remand for interrogation. We are suspecting her of being involved in three similar cases. The accused couple was in a live-in relationship and didn’t want the child, so they planned to make money by selling him to a needy couple and approached Aarti who seems to be dealing in this trade for quite some time,” the official said.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.
