Cops arrest 3 for double murder
The special cell of Delhi police has arrested three persons in connection with a double murder that took place inside premises of Lady Hardinge Medical College. The arrested accused were carrying a reward of `1.5 lakhs and were allegedly involved in other murder and robbery cases.
A senior police official said that the accused, identified as Vijay Lal, alias Notty, Manoj, alias Kalua, and Ashok, alias Kala, were held at the Gopalpur traffic signal on Tuesday evening.
The police recovered three pistols, nine live cartridges and a stolen motorcycle from their possession.
“The three accused were involved in the murder of Kailash, alias Bittoo, and his father Subhash in Lady Hardinge Medical College on April 24 and the killing of Samunder Pahalwan in Burari on April 28. They had a rivalry with Bittoo and Subhash,” he said.
The official said that a team of special cell got a tip-off that the accused were hiding in Outer Delhi and a team was sent to nab them. They were travelling on a motorcycle and opened fire at the police in a bid to escape but were overpowered and arrested.
The accused were also taking protection money from a bookie. “They shot at a bookie, namely Moti Lal Khan, in Uttam Nagar,” said the police official.
Meanwhile, panic gripped the district centre in West Delhi on Thursday over a bomb hoax. The manager of Janakpuri district centre told the police that a letter recovered from the toilet on sixth floor saying a bomb has been placed in the building. A police team, bomb disposal squad and fire tenders were rushed to the building. After searches for three hours, the police found nothing and declared it a hoax.
