Cop wife sets off Rahul plot alarm
Security agencies went into a tizzy when a phone call was received by the Delhi police control room on Saturday morning claiming that a plan has been hatched to kill Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi.
Top police sources disclosed that the call was made to the PCR at around 5.45 am on Saturday. The caller, a woman, told the police that a discreet plan has been hatched to kill Mr Gandhi. Mr Gandhi is under the security cover of the SPG.
“The woman claimed that a cook working at Mr Gandhi’s house will serve him food laced with poison,” a source said. Alarm bells started ringing as the news spread in the security establishment. “Since it was a serious issue, we had to alert the Intelligence Bureau and the Delhi police’s special cell and special teams were formed to track the caller,” the source said.
The security personnel finally managed to identify the SIM card owner and teams were formed to conduct raids. “The woman was taken to special cell office for joint interrogation by IB, SPG and special cell,” a senior police official said. It turned out that the woman was wife of a constable working with the Delhi police. When her husband was questioned, he disclosed that his wife was suffering from depression for quite some time and was not in good mental state. The police examined the claims made by her husband which turned out to be true. “We have released the woman. It appears she is facing some psychological problems. No case has been registered,” the official said.
