Cop stabbed to death near metro station
A 26-year-old Delhi police constable was attacked and stabbed to death by unidentified assailants in Adarsh Nagar area of northwest Delhi on Sunday night. The incident took place at around 10.30 pm near the Adarsh Nagar Metro
Station and the deceased was identified as Harkesh Meena, 26. It was the first day of his duty at the Narela police station where he was transferred from the PCR recently.
“Meena had been posted with PCR in Malviya Nagar, south Delhi. He was transferred to the Narela police station around three days ago. He left the police station in the evening to go to his home in Malviya Nagar. When he reached near Adarsh Nagar Metro Station unknown assailants intercepted him. The attackers stabbed him in his chest,” said the police official.
According to the police, the wallet of Harkesh containing some cash was found missing but a bag containing his I-card and police uniform was found intact.
“Prima facie it seems that robbery is the motive behind the incident. The deceased joined the Delhi police in 2010 and since then he had been posted in PCR. Meena was a native of Dausa village of Rajasthan and was unmarried,” the official added.
The police has lodged an FIR of murder in this regard and a manhunt has been launched to nab the accused.
