Cop injured in stone-pelting at Jamia Nagar
Six persons, including a Delhi police constable, suffered injuries after two groups clashed in Jamia Nagar area of southeast Delhi and began pelting stone at each other after a tiff over a minor road accident. The constable was injured when he was trying to pacify members of the two groups.
A senior police official said constable Raghuvir Singh and other injured were rushed to a nearby hospital where they are undergoing treatment.
A senior police official said two persons, identified as Babar and Majid, travelling on a motorcycle. accidentally hit Imran and Irfan standing on the roadside in Batla House area of southeast Delhi.
“Imran and Irfan scolded Babar and Majid for rash driving and had a heated argument but a passerby pacified them. However, Babar and Majid returned with their associates and began pelting stones at Imran and Irfan. A police team rushed to the spot on getting a call about the stone pelting,” said the police official.
The officials pacified the two groups and were recording statement of Irfan when someone hurled a stone that hit constable Raghuvir Singh.
“We have lodged an FIR in this connection and have arrested Babar while search is on to nab his associates,” said the police official.
