A Delhi policeman was beaten up by an angry mob in the Sagarpur area of west Delhi late on Saturday night after he allegedly fired in air and also misbehaved with women, apparently under the influence of alcohol. However, the police officers have so far refused to reveal the identity of the cop.
According to the case registered at the local police station, the policeman was a constable who was patrolling in the area when he stopped two women on the pretext of a routine check. “The complaint of the case stated that the cop was drunk and he allegedly passed lewd comments on two women,” said the police.
Officers also added that when some residents of the area asked the accused not to abuse the women, he got into a scuffle with them. “The accused policeman was later thrashed by the mob,” said the police. Officers have pointed out that the police is doing further investigations in the case and if the accused cop found guilty he will be terminated from his services.
