Cong MP’s house burgled, probe on
The house of a Congress MP in Lutyen’s Delhi was broken into and the bathroom fittings were stolen. The incident was reported on October 1 morning at the residence of Congress MP Manik Rao Gavit at 38, GRG Road. Mr Gavit is a Lok Sabha MP from the Nandurbar constituency in Maharashtra and he was out of station at the time of the incident.
According to the police, the burglar managed to flee from the spot even as a servant spotted him going out. The servant who had come to the residence to carry out cleaning reported the theft to the police.
The official said that the servant has been staying in the servant quarters of Mr Gavit’s bungalow for the past 10 years and has been carrying out cleaning of the house whenever the MP was out of station.
“On October 1, the servant reached the MP’s residence at around 8.45 am and saw a person going out. She told us that she thought that the person was one of the relatives of the MP. She even said “namaste” to him,” the police official said.
“But when she went to the washroom, she found that water was overflowing and the tap was missing. She looked for the person she had seen going out of the bungalow but he could not be located,” the official said adding that a case under Section 380 of the IPC (theft) has been registered against unknown persons.
Meanwhile, a 25-year-old man died and another was injured after they came in contact with a high-tension electric wire while installing a hoarding in a south Delhi building, reports PTI.
The incident took place in Tughlaqabad Extension at around 2.40 pm and the deceased has been identified as Mukesh Patel belonging to Faridabad, the police said..
The two were installing a hoarding on the third floor of the building when the incident took place.
The injured is undergoing treatment in a hospital.
