CM denies letter from Prez office

Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit denied receiving any letter from the President’s office, which slammed the CM for publishing a “false” statement about the Rajeev Rattan Awas Yojana in year 2008 to lure the voters. Earlier the Delhi Lokayukta sent the copy of the complaint to the Union home ministry and the President’s office.

President Pratibha Patil has “advised” the Delhi government to exercise caution in making announcements while responding to the Lokayukta order.
In the year 2008, the Delhi government published an advertisement in newspapers about the Rajiv Rattan Awas Yojana and claimed that the low-cost flats are ready for the deprived and BPL sector. However, no construction was started even three years after the advertisement. The Delhi Lokayukta slammed the Delhi government for making false statements and sent the copies of complaint to the Union home ministry and the President office. The President’s response came on the Lokayukta’s report. But the chief minister claimed that she had not received any such advice.
“We have not received any letter from the President office. I heard about the letter only from the press. If we receive any letter from the President office, we will respect the instructions and follow the same,” Ms Dikshit told reporters here.
In an order in July, Justice Sarin had held that Mr Dikshit “misrepresented” to the public about construction of low cost houses to “obtain gain or favour to herself or her political party” and had recommended to the President to censure her.
“The Lokayukta, in his order, said people should ‘stand up against unethical practices’ and build up a strong public opinion to ensure that public functionaries adhere to ‘high standards of integrity and conduct.’”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
