CIC to health dept: Put PPP deals on Web
The Central Information Commission (CIC) has asked the department of health and family welfare of the Delhi government to put up all the agreements signed under public-private-partnership (PPP) since January 1, 2009, on its website. The order of the CIC came on an RTI petition seeking information related to ambulance fleet that
was to be prepared for the Commonwealth Games. The Delhi government had signed a deal with a private hospital chain for providing 102 ambulances for the CWG, but the deal had fallen through due to certain problems.
Information commissioner Shailesh Gandhi, in an order passed recently, asked the department of health and family welfare to upload all the agreements signed under the PPP mode since January 1, 2009, till February 28, 2011, and continue doing so in case of future agreements. The CIC also asked the department’s public information officer to inform it about the steps taken by the department to put up all the agreements of the last two years and also apprise it about the steps being taken to ensure future agreements are put on display under section 4 of the RTI Act.
