Charred body of youth found on road
An unidentified youth, who was apparently coming back from a New Year party on Friday night, was found charred to death under highly mysterious circumstances in a market in southeast Delhi early Saturday morning.
Police officials said the deceased, who is believed to be in his twenties and has not been identified so far, was spotted by a pedestrian in the auto market in Dakshinpuri, Ambedkar Nagar, at around 7.30 am on Saturday.
His half-burnt Hero Honda Splendor motorcycle was found lying some distance away from his body.
“His body is charred beyond recognition. Only his legs were not affected by fire. He was wearing branded shoes but his identity could not be established. We suspect that he was coming back from a New Year party and got into a brawl with the assailants who set him ablaze,” a police source said.
The police is also suspecting that the youth resisted a robbery attempt by the local criminals which triggered the murder.
“It can also be a case of personal enmity. We have registered a case of murder at the Ambedkar Nagar police station and a hue and cry notice has been issued in all the districts to identify the accused,” a senior police official said.
