CBI arrests 5 men for AIIMS test bungling
The CBI on Saturday arrested five suspects, including the alleged kingpin, a radiologist operating from Agra, of an inter-state gang for manipulating the examination process of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)’s Post Graduate (PG) entrance test.
According to sources the arrested kingpin, Dr Mahipal Singh, had done his post graduation course in radiology reportedly from AIIMS. He is said to be running the racket for the past two years, sources said. However, the sources refused to divulge the identity of others arrested in the case.
“Singh is pursuing higher education in Agra and is also employed as a radiologist there. He was the kingpin of this network. He attempted to manipulate the examination process of AIIMS’s post graduate entrance test in lieu of bribe from aspiring candidates”, sources said. The CBI is likely to make some high-profile arrests in the case, sources added.
The CBI on Friday detained nine suspects after registering an FIR against the accused for bunglings in the entrance exam process. The agency officials also carried out raids at 10 places in Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR). The officials are also expected to question some officials of AIIMS in this regard.
