Building collapse: Cops file case against owners

A criminal case has been registered against the owner, her four family members and two others for the building collapse here last week which killed four persons and injured 14 others, a senior police officer said on Monday.

“Owner Kranti Devi, her brother Avinash Sharma, her husband R.M. Tiwari, Maitray and Kartikay (sons), the contractor and the supervisor have been booked under Sections 308, 304 and 325 of the IPC,” SP (City) J.K. Shahi told reporters. Both contractor and supervisor were arrested on the same night of the collapse (July 16), while raids are on to arrest the absconding owner and her family, Mr Shahi said.
On Saturday, a court had issued non-bailable warrants against all the seven.
The accused would be produced before the court if they are arrested, the SP said, adding that their properties shall be attached if they remain absconding.
