B.tech student hit by car in gz’bad, dies

A 22-year-old engineering student died on Monday after a speeding car hit him while he was crossing a road here.

The incident took place at Modinagar, about 25 km from here, when Dilshad, a second year B.Tech. student of Meerut-based Subharti Engineering College, was hit by the car while crossing the road, they said.
He died on the spot, police said, adding that the car driver managed to flee.
Protesting the incident, angry students blocked NH-58, connecting the town with Badrinath in Uttarakhand, for a few hours, they said.
Meanwhile, in a case of honour killing, a youth was murdered by his wife’s family members here, the police said on Monday.
25-year-old Deepak Chaudhry who had married his 22-year- old niece Komal in June was killed by his in-laws some days back.
His decomposed body was found on October 7 from the bank of Ganga at Niwari area. — PTI
