BSP MP’s iPad stolen from North Avenue
Unidentified thieves struck at the North Avenue residence of Rajya Sabha MP from Bahujan Samajwadi Party and decamped with his Apple iPad on Saturday.
Police sources said the incident took place at the 117, North Avenue residence of MP Ambeth Rajan, who is also a member of Committee on Provision of Computers to Members of Rajya Sabha. Sources revealed that some repair work was being undertaken by CPWD officials at the residence when the incident took place.
“There was some CPWD staff present at the residence when the incident took place Mr Rajan had used the iPad at around 10 am on Saturday to send some emails after which he went to the backyard of his house where the repair work was being carried out. The thieves struck within a time period of 50 minutes and stole his Apple iPad which was issued from Rajya Sabha secretariat. When he came back at around 11 am, he found the iPad missing,” a senior police official said.
Mr Rajan inquired from the CPWD staff and the domestic helps working at his residence about the missing iPad but they all feigned ignorance.
Even the search of the belongings carried by CPWD staff and the residence didn’t lead to the recovery of the Ipad after which Mr Rajan approached the North Avenue police post where a complaint was registered.
“We have registered a case of theft under Section 380 IPC and investigations and efforts to recover the iPad have begun. The CPWD staff which was carrying out the repair work at the house when the theft took place and the domestic helps of Mr Rajan have been called for questioning. No arrests have been made so far,” the official said.
