Brazilian ‘drugged, raped by landlord’

A 27-year-old Brazilian student was allegedly drugged and then raped by her landlord at her rented accommodation in the upscale Greater Kailash area, the police said.
Police sources said that the incident came to light on Tuesday evening when the victim, a student of journalism at a Noida-based institute, walked up to the Greater K

ailash police station at around 6.30 pm and narrated the happenings to the cops. The victim was accompanied by her lawyer, the police said.
In her statement, the victim has claimed that her landlord, whose identity was not confirmed by the police, had served her coffee on June 20 in which he had allegedly mixed sedatives.
“I arrived in India in the first week of June for studies. After getting admission in a mass communication institute at Noida, I shifted to Greater Kailash on June 19,” the victim stated.
“The victim rented a two-room accommodation in the P-Block of Greater Kailash II. On the day she shifted to the place, the accused came to meet her and offered her coffee. It is suspected that sedatives had been mixed in the coffee and the victim fell unconscious after consuming it, following which the accused raped her,” a source said.
The victim has also stated that her landlord raped her again on June 21 and June 22.
“On June 27, when the accused again came to rape me, I resisted and asked him to leave the premises,” the complaint states. The police said a case of rape has been registered at the CR Park police station on the basis of the victim’s complaint on Tuesday.
“We have recorded her statement and taken her for medical examination. We have also apprehended the accused landlord and he is being questioned,” said the Delhi police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat.
The police has also informed the Brazilian embassy which will provide her consular access.
