Boy killed in balcony collapse
A boy, 11, was killed while his 14-year-old sister suffered critical injuries after a portion of a building fell on them in Saraswati Vihar area of northwest Delhi on Friday morning.
A senior police official said that the deceased boy was identified as Suraj, a resident of C Block. He used to study in a government school. His sister Kajal is undergoing treatment at the Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital in Rohini.
Suraj and Kajal were playing outside the building when a portion of the balcony of the house collapsed and fell on them, the police official said.
The police got a call about the incident at around 11 am. Both children were rushed to a nearby government hospital where Suraj was declared brought dead.
The police has registered an FIR under Section 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC at the Rani Bagh police station, the official said.
The owner of the house is Kamla Chawla, a retired school teacher.
