Boy, 14, lynched for stalking girl
A teenager was beaten to death by a mob for allegedly stalking a girl in southwest Delhi. The incident took place in Bindapur on Saturday evening. The deceased, who has been identified as Prashant, 14, was a Class 8 student of a government school and lived in Parampura village in Uttam Nagar.
The police had initially received a call that the boy had met with an accident but when the cops reached there, they could not find any evidence to suggest so.
“His injury marks did not suggest that he had met with an accident. He was bleeding from the nose and was taken to a hospital from where he was shifted to Mata Chanan Devi Hospital. The boy succumbed to the injuries today in the early hours,” said the investigating officers.
Eyewitnesses have given statement to the police suggesting that the boy was stalking a girl and was lynched by the locals for this reason. However, police officers have yet to make any arrests in the case.
Meanwhile, a Delhi court has sentenced four youths to rigorous life imprisonment for lynching the brother of a man who eloped with and married a girl of the family of one of them.
Refusing to grant any leniency to the four convicts Rajesh, 20, Kartar, 25, Ram Kishan, 33, and Pawan, 24, additional sessions judge (ASJ) S.C. Rajan said, “Each witness in this case has given consistent statement pointing to the guilt of the accused. The prosecution has legal, reliable and unimpeachable evidence in this case that would fasten the guilt on the accused.”
The court also slapped a fine of `5,000 on each of the convicts, besides awarding them life imprisonment

Speeding container kills man

Feb. 27: A 26-year-old man died after being hit by a speeding container in east Delhi. The deceased, who has been identified as Ritesh, an employee of an insurance company. Ritesh was hit by the container while he was on his motorcycle.
The incident took place on NH-24 in Gazipur. The speeding container hit Ritesh’s motorcycle from behind. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead, said the police. Meanwhile, police officers have also confirmed that the deceased’s family members, who live in Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh, have been informed and asked to claim the body.
