BJP to launch Delhi poll campaign today
BJP president Rajnath Singh along with party’s general secretary and UP in-charge Amit Shah will formally launch the election campaign for Delhi Assembly polls on Tuesday. Sources said Mr Shah will be addressing a rally of party cadres at Talkatora Stadium.
The campaign is being launched on September 17, which is also the birthday of Mr Narendra Modi According to Delhi BJP leaders, the Gujarat leader would be representing Modi who will not be present at the launch of the BJP’s campaign. Mr Modi will, however, address a rally in the national capital on September 29. The sources said that senior BJP leaders will be guiding the party workers on the basics while campaigning that will also set the agenda for the polls.
Mr Singh is expected to present a “development agenda” for Delhi at the rally which will be participated by all senior Delhi BJP leaders, including Vijay Goel, Vijay Kumar Malhotra, Vijendra Gupta and Harsh Vardhan.
In addition to this, BJP party workers will also perform a havan at the Delhi BJP headquarters to pray for Mr Modi’s long life and BJP’s victory in the upcoming Delhi Assembly Polls.
“The annointment of Narendra Modi as prime ministerial candidate has galvanised the party cadres in Delhi. The party will fight together to end the 15-year misrule of Congress-led government,” said Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel.
“We are performing a havan on Tuesday on Modi’s birthday to pray for his long life as well as for the BJP’s victory in coming Assembly and Lok Sabha polls,” he added.
Mr Goel further informed that thousands of BJP workers and supporters will participate in the rally to mark the formal kickstart of the assembly election campaign, adding that the BJP cadres will visit every household revealing the “false promises” made by the government.
Mr Goel said, “While the BJP is working towards mobilising all sections of society, the party’s special focus will be on the poor, the youth and people living in unauthorised colonies, JJ clusters, slums and rural areas of Delhi.”
