BJP to kickstart Delhi campaign on Tuesday
Delhi BJP chief Vijay Goel on Saturday said that the party will formally launch its Assembly election campaign from September 17.
At a joint press conference in Delhi, Mr Goel and Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijay Kumar Malhotra said that they will focus a host of issues ranging from power, water, inflation, corruption to lack of development in rural areas, unauthorised colonies, JJ clusters and slums.
The senior BJP leaders said that Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, who has been anointed as the prime ministerial candidate for upcoming Lok Sabha polls from the BJP, will address a rally on September 29 at the Japanese park in Rohini.
“The move (Mr Modi’s anointment as PM candidate) would boost their chances, especially among the youth as Mr Modi has a huge following among them,” the Delhi BJP chief said.
Mr Malhotra said that a massive rally will be held at Talkatora Stadium on September 17.
The rally will mark the formal launch of the party’s election campaign.
“For this, BJP has started a massive campaign through advertisements. Party workers will go from door to door explaining the misdeeds of the Congress government in the last 15 years,” he said.
They added that the party would also release a booklet with a “new vision” for Delhi.
BJP president Rajnath Singh and Delhi Assembly election in-charge Nitin Gadkari, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley, National general secretaries Amit Shah, Anant Kumar, Dharmendra Pradhan, Shahnawaz Hussain, Delhi election co-in-charge Navjot Singh Siddhu, among others, would kick-start the campaign.
