BJP divided over Batla House case
On a day when its youth wing activists were observing “Batla House encounter anniversary” and demanding renaming of a road after the slain Delhi police inspector Mohan Chand Sharma, Bharatiya Janata Party’s minority cell incharge J.K. Jain was sitting among members of the Ulema Council who were demanding judicial probe into the encounter.
The slain Delhi police inspector had led the operation in 2008.
Angred with Dr Jain for supporting the cause of the Muslim organisation, BJP youth wing activists are now demanding Dr Jain’s removal from the post.
On Monday, when BJP’s youth activists were demanding renaming of a road leading to the Batla House locality in Jamia Nagar after the slain Delhi Police inspector, Dr Jain was supporting the protest by the Muslim organisation at Jantar Mantar, who were demanding probe against the encounter in which two suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorists were killed and two were arrested. It could be mentioned that BJP had attacked some of the Congress leaders who had raised questions on the encounter. The party had also demanded clarification from the Congress as well as the UPA on the issue.
BJP’s youth wing has also decided to take up this matter with the party top brass. They are also planning to write a letter to party chief Nitin Gadkari demanding Dr Jain’s removal from the post.
These youth wing members met Dr Jain on Tuesday to question why he participated in the protest by the Ulema Council. But they were “not satisfied” with his reply and said they will take up the matter with the BJP top brass.
