BJP constitutes 2 panels for election
The BJP on Sunday announced the formation of the election committee and core group of the Delhi unit and appointing leaders of different factions in the two bodies in a balancing act to end infighting and discontent ahead of the Assembly polls.
Both the election committee and the election core group will be headed by Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel.
The election committee has V.K. Malhotra, O.P. Kohli, Mangeram Garg, Harsh Vardhan, Vijender Gupta, Jagdish Mukhi, Ramesh Bidhuri, R.P. Singh and Pravesh Verma among its 17 members and seven special invitees.
Besides the above mentioned leaders, the 54-member election core group also includes Madan Lal Khurana, Arti Mehra, Vijay Jolly, Vani Tripathi, and Meenakshi Lekhi, among others. The BJP has given a fair representation to Punjabis, trader community and Poorvanchalis in the list.
The three mayors, Leaders of House and chairpersons of standing committee in three civic bodies have also been included in the election core committee.
Formation of the core committee comprising senior leaders from various factions was imminent as several leaders, particularly from the dissident groups, had approached the Delhi BJP election in-charge Nitin Gadkari seeking a larger role in party matters and election management.
