BJP: CM favouring kin in govt contracts
Delhi BJP chief Vijendra Gupta on Friday shot off a letter to Union home minister P. Chidambaram asking for an enquiry into allegations of involvement of chief minister Sheila Dikshit’s kin in a `28 crore scam. Mr Gupta alleged that “daughter-in-law of Ms Dikshit’s sister had been favoured in awarding contract of `28.5 crores for repair of government schools in Delhi disregarding rules”.
In his letter, Mr Gupta has demanded a high-level enquiry. “Ms Charu Malhotra, who is the daughter-in-law of the sister of the CM, is working as a senior officer in private consultancy company IL&FS. Taking undue advantage of her influence she got her firm appointed as consultant at 9.5 per cent commission for the repair works of all the government schools of Delhi. The entire contract was of `300 crores and this way Charu Malhotra’s firm earned a profit of `28.5 crores calculated at the rate of 9.5 per cent commission,” Mr Gupta alleged.
