Bank staffer molests woman, held
A bank sales representative was arrested by the police for the second time for allegedly stalking a 25-year-old woman working with Scotiabank in Connaught Place.
A senior police official said the accused, identified as Alok Ranjan, had been earlier arrested by the police from Connaught Place in 2010 for stalking the same girl. He was lodged in jail on her complaint. “After coming out of jail, he again started stalking the victim. She lodged a fresh complaint against him two days back and he was arrested from Gopal Das Bhavan where he allegedly misbehaved with her. An FIR under Section 354 (molestation) was lodged at the Bara Khamba Road police station in this respect,” said the police official.
The official said the accused lives in Sarita Vihar with his family and works in a private bank in Connaught Place. He knows the victim for past five years. “He proposed to the victim several times but she always spurned his advances. The girl decided to approach the police in 2010. However, after coming out of jail he again started stalking the victim. When the victim went to Gopal Das Tower to meet her friends, the accused followed her from her bank and tried to speak to her. The victim told him not to follow her or she would call the police and asked him to leave. The accused got angry over this and misbehaved with her. The victim then called the police and got him arrested,” said the police official.
