A deepening mystery surrounds the poisoning of the minor son of Deputy Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal R.K. Sharma by an unidentified man on Mansingh Road here last Friday. Top police sources said the incident is being investigated from all angles, including “professional rivalry”, but the accused has not been identified so far. Sources disclosed that the 13-year-old boy, identified as Manu Sharma, had gone for jogging on Mansingh Road in Lutyens’ Delhi last Friday around 4.30 pm. He somehow went home where his condition started deteriorating. Worried about his health, his parents shifted him to Army Hospital.
“The doctors administered him some medicines and it took some time before he regained consciousness. In his statement, he disclosed that a man, around 55 years of age, met him while he was jogging and offered him a drink. He turned dizzy soon after consuming the drink but managed to get back home,” a police official said.
The police has also recorded the statement of Air Marshal Sharma, who stays with his family at Kothi No. 3, Maulana Azad Road. It was not clear whether the victim was robbed and the police remained tightlipped about the matter. Despite repeated attempts to contact additional commissioner (New Delhi) K.C. Dwivedi, he was not available for his comments.
Police sources however said that the matter is being investigated from all angles. “It could be a case of professional rivalry or a personal dispute. Since the accused has not been identified so far, it would not be right to speculate about the case. All angles are being investigated,” the source said. A case under Section 328 IPC (causing hurt by means of poison, etc., with intent to commit an offence) has been registered at the Tughlaq Road police station.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
