‘Admissions to go on all year round’
The Delhi education minister Arvinder Singh Lovely has said the process of enrolment in schools would continue throughout the year as per provisions of the Right to Education Act.
It is to be noted that the city government had set July 31 deadline for nursery admissions, but as per the RTE Act, enrolment can continue throughout the year.
Mr Lovely also directed the senior officials of his department to ensure that all the eligible children should get admission in government-run or private schools.
“Mr Lovely has said that all the eligible children should be admitted in appropriate classes and not a single child should be left without getting admission,” said the official who attended the meeting.
Mr Lovely said the deputy directors of various zones have been told to prepare of list of private schools where seats under economically weaker section are lying vacant.
“The EWS seats that are lying vacant in the private schools will be filled soon. We will seek fresh applications from children of poor families for admission under this category,” the minister said.
