Accused Vinay not a juvenile: IO
The investigating officer (IO) of the December 16 gangrape case, a woman sub-inspector and a crucial prosecution witness, on Monday refuted allegations of an accused that he is a juvenile and that his parents had told her the same at the time of his arrest.
The IO, who was being cross-examined by the counsel for accused Vinay Sharma and Akshay Thakur said, “It is wrong to suggest that accused Vinay was a juvenile at the time of the incident or that his parents told me so.” The S-I also rejected the allegation that she had fabricated evidence.
“It is wrong to suggest that all the accused were falsely implicated in the present case,” the IO, who had initially probed the case, told additional sessions judge Yogesh Khanna.
The IO refuted that accused Vinay Sharma had shown her clippings of a musical function where he was allegedly present on December 16 when the 23-year-old girl was gangraped in moving bus. She also denied that accused Akshay Singh was falsely implicated in the case as he was not present in Delhi at the time.
The IO said that Akshay fled to his native village in Aurangabad, Bihar, from where he was arrested and bought to Delhi. She said she had not shown the photographs of Akshay to the complainant, the victim’s friend, before the test identification parade.
