Absconding Nigerian held for killing live-in partner
With the arrest of a 31-year old Nigerian national, the Delhi police on Monday claimed to solved the murder of a woman whose body was found stuffed in a bag at a flat in Uttam Nagar.
The accused, Innocent Nwayo, claimed to have worked with the Nigerian police force and as a commission agent in Nigeria before coming to India in October 2010. The accused had rented a flat in Uttam Nagar and was absconding since May 7. Police officers said that Nwayo was in a live-in relationship with the deceased, who hailed from Burma and worked in a beauty parlour.
During sustained interrogation, Nwayo told the police that he and his girlfriend had got into an scuffle which led to her murder.
“He went to the INA Market to buy a travel bag and intended to chop the body into pieces. Since the body emitted a foul stink, he wrapped it in a blanket and tied it with a plastic rope but could not gather the courage to dispose it, said the police.
During the investigation it was discovered that Nwayo had fled to Mumbai on May 3, to stay with a friend but came back to Delhi assuming that things would have settled, officials said.
