65-yr-old brassware trader shot dead in Rani Bagh
A 65-year-old businessman dealing in brassware was shot dead by unknown armed assailants in Rani Bagh on Monday night. The police got a call about the incident and a team was sent to the spot.
The victim was rushed to a nearby government hospital where he was declared brought dead. The deceased was identified as Jay Narayan Gupta.
“The deceased retired from town and planning department of Haryana government around five years ago and since then he had been living in the area with his family,” said the police official.
His son Manoj Gupta runs a shop from the first floor of his house. The deceased was assisting his son in the business.
The official said few guests visited his house on Monday night. Jay Narayan sent his son to meet the guests and started dealing with customers.
“At around 8 pm, the family members of the deceased heard commotion and rushed outside to see what had happened. They found Jay Narayan lying in a pool of blood and called the police. The police recovered an empty shell of a bullet from the crime scene,” said the police official.
