60 colonies to get sewage network
In a meeting presided over by Delhi Jal Board chairperson and chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Thursday, projects for laying sewer network in 60 unauthorised colonies were approved.
The board also accorded approval for spending `450 crores for laying sewer network in unauthorised colonies at Rithala, Keshopur, Dwarka and Okhla, said officials. It also approved the construction of a 6 million litre capacity underground reservoir at Mahipalpur at an estimated cost of `18.01 crores. The government has laid sewage line only in 100 out of total 1,639 regularised colonies so far.
Meanwhile, chief minister Sheila Dikshit said on Thursday that her government succeeded in developing world-class infrastructure in the city despite a “stagnant” Central budgetary allocation for the last 12 years.
“Despite not getting any hike in central share for the last 12 years, Delhi has succeeded in commissioning huge world-class infrastructure,” she said at a function after inaugurating three new school buildings in Tri Nagar along with Union minister Kapil Sibal.
